Amidst oversupply of growth capital for revenue-generating (unprofitable) scaleups including in the 'green' venture space, truly transformative innovations do not meet the prevailing VC investment criteria, namely, requiring revenue before VC funding (ensuring the funded ideas are incremental to the status quo) or that the founders be insiders, while most game-changing ideas come from outsiders.
